Certainly it was Comanches that ended up with the captives and they comprised the largest portion of the 500-700 Indians at the Ft Parker fight. However it is interesting that a number of Kichai or what the settlers called Caddo were also in on the raid and they all came from a camp up near the Cross Timbers on the Trinity. On April 11,1836 US Indian agents reported the Hainais,Nadacos,Kichais(Caddos),and Wichitas had met with members of the Comanche tribe on the forks of the Trinity River near where Dallas lies today to discuss how they could use the unsettled state of the country to their advantage. Most likely with Mexican agent influence.

In addition there is evidence that the Parkers knew of the unrest and were warned of the Indian attack. But why did James Parker disband the local ranger company? Why did ten of the men leave the fort to work in the fields? Why were the huge gates of the fort open and Silas' gun unloaded? Fascinating questions that will never be answered, but what happened on that Tuesday morning,May 19,1836 is horribly clear,,,
