Preston Road has been reported on many times here. Search the archives. Most of what was reported (and perhaps most of what is known) about early Preston Road was detailed here by M.C. and MWT. Despite what was said above, the Military Road (Preston Road) remained an important travel route for many years, and now Texas State Highway 289 approximates the route. It was not known as Preston Road only within Dallas, but for the entire distance from Dallas to Preston.
