I remember going to the grand opening of Big Town. It was amazing to a 5 year old. Searchlights and fireworks beckoned us across the new construction at Buckner and US 80. There was an amusement park at the NW corner with various rides, including a roller coaster. Inside there was a area where parents could drop their kids to watch cartoons while they shopped. I always loved to go to BG up until jr high when a couple of high schoolers decided to beat me up. Didn't go back until years later for Christmas shopping when it started to turn and wasn't too crowded. As a parent, I'd take my kids to the dollar movies at the cinema.
