The Apollo was preceded, on the same property, by the Garland Rd. Drive-In, a single-screener positioned at the southern point of the triangle formed by Garland, Kingsley, & Shiloh Roads. It was owned by the same group that owned the Denton Rd. and Hampton Rd. Drive-Ins, and opened about the same time those did, 1950.

The Casa View was built in 1954 and was originally named the White Rock Drive-In, changing to Casa View about 1961.

The Kiest Boulevard was probably the largest single-screener in Dallas County, accommodating just over 1,000 cars; most of the others parked between 400 and 600, with a very few approaching 800. The later two, three, and four-screeners, of course, parked upwards of 2,000 cars.
