I did not find any evidence of a swimming pool. I did some research at the time, and even asked my mom, who graduated in 1937. She said neither she nor her sister nor cousins (all of whom graduated before her) recalled there ever being a pool in the building. The pool was at the YMCA building in the next block, which is currently the site of the J.Erik Jonsson Community School Campus. I was on the swimming team at Adamson and we wanted the district to buy the old Y building for us so we could use it as a practice facility. Didn't happen, of course. There was (and may still be) a rifle range in the basement, though. The ROTC Rifle team used it.
If anybody here can get permission for us to go crawling around the campus, I'm up for it whenever. Many things have been changed about the building over the years but I'm sure there are still some interesting things to be found. Who knows? There might still be some tunnels there, waiting to be rediscovered.
