I was mostly barefoot as long as I walked to the swimming pool two and three times a day and that probably ended some time in JHS. It sure was hot crossing streets after the first walk in the morning and sometimes the sidewalks were unpleasant. But I learned, or relearned in a hurry every year which yards had stickers that kept me on the sidewalk even though my feet were tougher then.
