Re: Barefootedness

Before we moved to Dallas the second time, we lived in Tyler from 1961 to 1963. Our neighborhood had what we called "oil roads." They would bubble up in the summer heat. We loved to pop the bubbles with our toes or covered feet. It left a black residue on the bottoms which my mother did not want us to track on the carpet inside the house! Those oil roads rutted out pretty easily near the street corners. They filled with water after a good rain and we used to love to splash in them in our bare feet. One deep and notorious road rut was dubbed the "Muddy Guddy."
Our backyard there was a minefield full of "stickers" or burrs.
