Now you Texans may know the next unforgettable character but I as a naturalized Texan did not. I found him mentioned on the McKinney website and found his bio on wiki.

John King Fisher (1854 – March 11, 1884) was a gunslinger from the U.S. state of Texas during the heyday of the American Old West.

[en.wikipedia.org]
His bio is long but it states that he was born in Collin County. "His mother died when he was two years old, and his father married a woman named Minerva. After the Civil War ended, the family moved to Williamson County, near Austin, where his brother James was then residing."

He soon went to prison for horse stealing but had a short sentence due to youthful age.

Entertaining read at wiki on this handsome, legendary part outlaw criminal/lawman type and concludes with this:

Fisher is portrayed by Robert Yuro in the 1970 episode "King of the Uvalde Road" of the syndicated television series Death Valley Days, with Dale Robertson.
Alfred Molina plays Fisher in the 2001 film Texas Rangers.
