Station WRR, with studios at Fair Park, had a late(ish) night program in the late '40s for which the DJ was (to the best of my memory) one Al Jones. The music was then-current hits, but the studio was open to the public (Jones in a booth), and a feature was the incorporation of contemporary commercial cuts into comedic routines. I especially recall a routine in which a character called Nucoa was found wanting, after which the line "Nucoa is yellow!" from the commercial appeared (Nucoa was a popular margerine at the time); a typical bit incorporated a half-dozen or so commercial lines as gag lines. It was amusing and lively, lame as it may sound. Anyone recall the so-called Jive Joint?
