Re: Dallas-Garland Airport

The airfields-freeman site is a great resource, and I've visited it many times. I just read their article again on Mustang Airport, and decided to go look at historicaerials.com to look at the location. To my surprise, I found that they have added 1952 to their aerial photos for Dallas (previously, the oldest available was 1956). On the 1952 photos, the hangars and planes are still there, but the location of the runway isn't obvious, as I don't see any straight paved lines near the hangars, with the exceptions of the roads.

I do believe that one of the photos on the airfields-freeman site is misidentified. I think their mid '50s picture of the airport is actually of the Caruth Lumber Co. on Greenville north of Lovers Ln. Their picture is actually an inset of a photo of Central Expressway looking south from Walnut Hill (from texasfreeway.com), and road that the "airport" is on is the closest road east of Central, which would be Greenville, not Abrams. That would make it the Caruth building. The text for the photo hyperlink is also wrong, as it says it's from DHS via Jerry Felts, but the link is to the texasfreeway.com site. I sent the Freemans a correction email, and a $10 PayPal donation.
